A Sunny Day at the Science Centre
Emma and her cousin, Jake, live in a small town surrounded by farms and forests. They are
both curious about space and technology. One bright, sunny Saturday, they decided to visit the
Regional Science Centre. They had heard that a new planetarium show about the solar system had
just opened. There were also interactive robots and a real moon rock. They were excited to spend a
day experimenting and discovering new facts, away from their usual weekend routine.
Jake woke up early and packed a small rucksack with a tablet, a pair of binoculars, a bottle
of orange juice, and some oatmeal cookies. He put on his bright red trainers and his favourite cargo
shorts. At the same time, Emma prepared her own bag with a sketchpad, a pencil case, a science
magazine, and a cap to shield her eyes from the sun. She put on her white denim jacket and
sunglasses. They agreed to meet at the science centre entrance at 10:30 a.m.
When they arrived, the first thing they did was buy their tickets and check the show times
for the planetarium. The first hall was filled with models of rockets and satellites. Jake was very
good at building things and spent a long time trying to assemble a small Mars rover model. Emma
was more fascinated by the stars and eagerly read every fact about the constellations.
After exploring the space exhibition, they decided to visit the electricity and magnetism
zone. They made a light bulb glow by pedalling a stationary bike and watched a metal ball float in
mid-air. “This is incredibly cool!” Emma said. “I’m so glad we came here today.”
After walking around for a while, they felt thirsty and a little tired. They found a table near
the food court and sat down to drink their juice and share a slice of pizza. While they were resting,
they watched people playing with a giant bubble-making station and talked about visiting the
aquarium next time.
After their break, they visited the museum shop. Jake bought a small telescope keyring, and
Emma chose a glow-in-the-dark ceiling sticker set to put in her bedroom. By the late afternoon, they
were exhausted but thrilled. They packed up their belongings and headed home, already planning
their next science adventure.
